Sir,

I am directed to forward the enclosed letter from Dr. J. Lowson of the Hong Kong Medical Service, asking that he may be allowed six weeks leave, after his return from India, before he reembarks for Hong Kong. Dr. Lowson left Bombay by the steamer of the 16th July.

Lord George Hamilton directs me to add that he has not yet received from India a formal report regarding the good work done by Dr. Lowson; but he is aware that Dr. Lowson's experience, knowledge and energy have been of much service and he believes that Dr. Lowson's work in India gives him a claim to any consideration that Mr. Secretary Chamberlain may see fit to show to the request submitted in the enclosed letter.

I have the honour to be, Sir,

Your obedient Servant,

The Under Secretary of State,

Colonial Office.
